Winx Club (also known as The Winx: Just Fairies) is an Italian animated television series that tell the story of enchanting fairies that fight the forces of darkness. I won't expand too much more about the series , but i will just mention that it's very successful and had been followed by films, computer games and even a musical.
I do want to talk about the clothing of these enchanting fairies. From the days of Disney's Tinkerbell (and perhaps even earlier) the clothing of animated fairies became very provocative and sexual. The fact that the fairies are tiny inhuman creator made it possible for the creators to dress them in short ultra mini dress. How can anyone claim that the fairies are provocative when they are so naive and lack sexuality?
in the case of Winx Club the creator decided to make another step and dress the fairies with stylish updated fashionable clothes. They succeeded a bit too much: the fairies in the series look like stunning Barbie dolls with colorful wings, And they are dressed in a very sexy way that's hard to miss: flapping mini skirts, high heels, thigh-high socks, crop tops and more.
I have mentioned before that content to which we are exposed in the different media has some influence on the evolution of our sexual fantasies. I think Winx Club is an excellent example of how innocent characters to which we are exposed to in childhood affect us without our awareness.
